The Geosense team, along with team members from sister company Promap, recently attended the AfricaGEO Conference and Exhibition in Gauteng, showcasing the latest mobile mapping technology and how geospatial data is building smarter communities.
AfricaGEO is the premier Geomatics conference in Africa, bringing together geomatics industry professionals from across the world, providing a platform to share the latest developments in the industry of surveying and geo-information, and provides an opportunity to promote and showcase the latest products and services the industry has to offer.
The conference was an opportunity for Geosense to take their place as a mainstream supplier in the survey industry in Africa and to showcase the latest in mobile mapping technology - the Leica Pegasus: Two Mobile Mapping Ultimate System, which simultaneously captures panoramic high-resolution imagery and high-density point cloud data from a moving vehicle. The captured 3D geospatial data has several uses across numerous sectors including road and city mapping and navigation, waterways, emergency response planning, plus street, highways and utilities infrastructure and asset management.
IMSSA (The Institute of Mine Surveyors of Southern Africa), hosted their 96th AGM at AfricaGEO, enabling the Geosense team to demo the Leica mobile mapping platform with customers from the mining sector. Overwhelmingly many were impressed with the features of the survey system, in particular with the speed and accuracy in which survey data can be provided.
“In conjunction with our aerial survey capabilities, I am really excited that Geosense can support our existing customers and offer new customers the latest in mobile mapping technology to assist them with planning and decision making across a wide range of applications from asset management to large-scale transportation, utility, infrastructure and energy projects,” explained Matt Murphy, Managing Director of Geosense. "The show provided a great opportunity for the Geosense team to meet up with customers from across the many sectors that we operate in, as well as meeting new contacts interested in our expert survey solutions."
