Geosense’s Integrated Solution for Districts – A new start for Local Authorities Overview

Getmapping’s Integrated Solution for Districts consists of four distinct parts which can be purchased individually or as a combined package. These are: Core Data, Data Hosting Services, Web GIS Services and a Spatial Data Warehouse. The interconnection between these four parts is illustrated in the diagram below:
Core Data
Geosense can supply high resolution imagery at 12.5cm/25cm resolution. From the aerial photography. This Data can be provided as an integral part of Getmapping’s Integrated Solution for Districts.
Data Hosting Services
Getmapping provides high speed, resilient Data Hosting Services which can be used by a Local Authority for accessing base Geographical Information via OGC-compliant WMS and WFS feeds. This Geographical Information comes from a number of sources, typically:
• Imagery and and height data
• Mapping and cadastral data
• Local Authority base data such as historic aerial photography
The advantages to the Local Authority of using Getmapping’s Data Hosting services are:
• Increased performance and reliability from a central, specialised data hosting facility
• Reduction in costs of IT staff and in-house data storage
• Reduction in costs of maintaining OS mapping
• Internet access to data for all approved staff and partners via WMS/WFS
• Access to Getmapping Data for the whole of Great Britain
Web GIS Services
Getmapping’s Integrated Solution incorporates a secure, scalable web-based GIS system called District Online, which allows any number of users to access and interact with geographical data and other relevant Local Authority datasets. District Online is very easy to use with comprehensive help, including step-by-step guides and videos. There are no per seat licence fees.
District Online can replace the majority of GIS systems within a Local Authority leaving only the high-end, specialised GIS systems in place.
This offers the following advantages:
• Major savings in GIS licence fees, maintenance fees and IT support
• GIS provided for all authorised staff without incurring any further per seat costs
• Increased efficiency through the sharing of data with external entities such as parishes and other partners
Spatial Data Warehouse (SDW)
As part of our Integrated Solution for Districts, Getmapping can also offer a proprietary Spatial Data Warehouse (SDW) for use within the Local Authority infrastructure. The SDW will integrate other data structures (both spatial and non-spatial) and allow the rapid sharing of information without major data duplication or costly reformatting.
Pricing
The pricing of Getmapping’s Integrated Solution for Districts depends on the area, population and level of proposed usage within a Local Authority. This can only be determined after a consultation with each individual authority. However, experience shows that the adoption of Getmapping’s Integrated Solution for Districts will result in a substantial net saving. We can therefore offer a pricing model which includes the maintenance of your aerial photography within an annual price which still provides a net saving.
